Once upon a time...

During the turn of the 19th century, settlers and weary travelers had few options for provisions in the area of Stamford. Settlers of “The Ridges” farmed the land and only occasionally traveled to “town” to purchase necessities or occasional niceties. Travelers making the trek on land from the coast to settlements north, such as “Scott Corners” or “Pound Ridge”, had the same limited options.

Cedar Corners General Store would have been that gathering place for locals and travelers alike to purchase provisions and the occasional gift, toy or treat. Dry goods, hardware, sweets, clothing, sundries, gifts and news are among a few of the items that would have been available. Also, it would have been the gathering spot for locals to spend a few minutes admiring the latest offerings delivered from the “big city” and catching up on local news.

The general store was the “AMAZON” of the late 19th and early 20th century American frontier.

Take a journey back to that simpler time and experience a blend of local, unique and fun gifts and accessories in an upbeat, old time turn-of-the-century charm!
